Matthew Risch to Replace Justin Kirk in OTHER DESERT CITIES

Beginning March 27 at the Booth Theatre, the role of Trip Wyeth in the Broadway production of Jon Robin Baitz’s acclaimed play Other Desert Cities will be taken over by Broadway veteran Matthew Risch. Justin Kirk (“Weeds,” “Angels In America,” The Understudy, Old Wicked Songs), who joined the cast January 10, 2012, will play his final performance at the Booth Theatre on March 25,2012.

Risch (Pal Joey, Legally Blonde, Chicago) has understudied the role of Trip since the play premiered in 2011 Off-Broadway in 2011 at the LCT. He has performed the role of Trip several times, including a stint last December while original cast member Thomas Sadoski was out of performance filming a pilot.

Risch joins Tony Award winner Stockard Channing (Six Degrees of Separation, The House of Blue Leaves), Golden Globe winner Stacy Keach (Indians, “Hemingway”), Tony nominee Judith Light (Lombardi, “Ugly Betty”) and Elizabeth Marvel (“True Grit,” Top Girls).
