Complete Casting Announced For ‘The Wizard of Oz’ National Tour

Theatre Ventures has announced complete casting for the first North American Tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber‘s new stage adaptation of The Wizard of Oz which willbegin September 10, 2013 at The Smith Center in Las Vegas, NV. Previously announced Danielle Wade, who stars as Dorothy in the production, was chosen by the Canadian public through a TV reality show on CBC called “Over The Rainbow”.

Starring opposite Wade will be Canadian actor Cedric Smith as the Wizard, Mike Jackson (Chicago) as the Tin Man, Lee MacDougall (Mamma Mia! in Toronto and the U.S. tour) as the Lion, Jamie McKnight (The Producers in Toronto) as the Scarecrow, Robin Evan Willis (Shaw Festival) as Glinda and Jacquelyn Piro Donovan (Les Miz, Miss Saigon, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Closer Than Ever) as the Wicked Witch of the West. 

Completing the ensemble are Larry Mannell, Charlotte Moore, Jordan Bell, John Edwards, Kelly Grainger, Julianne Hobby, Jason Huska, Zak Kearns, Ayrin Mackie, Anthony MacPherson, Stewart Adam McKensy, Julia McLellan, Briana Palmer, Kristen Pottle, Alana Randall, Adam Sergison, Andrew Taylor, Devon Tullock, Jesse Weafer, Ryan Wilson and Alyson Workman.

This new production, developed from the MGM screenplay and still containing all of the Harold Arlen and E.Y. Harburg songs from the Oscar-winning film, also includes new songs by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber. The Lloyd Webber adaptation made its North American premiere on December 20, 2012 at the Ed Mirvish Theatre in Toronto, ON, where it is scheduled to run until August 18, 2013.

The Wizard of Oz‘s award-winning creative team from the West End and Toronto productions will be featured in the national tour; Direction by Jeremy Sams, produced by Bill Kenwright, The Really Useful Group, David Mirvish, Troika Entertainment and Warner Bros., set and costume design by Robert Jones, choreography by Arlene Phillips, lighting design by Hugh Vanstone, sound design by Mick Potter, video/projection design by Jon Driscoll, orchestrations by David Cullen, and musical supervision by Graham Hurman.
