A Night With Janis Joplin celebrated Janis Joplin’s birthday yesterday, January 19th, 2014. At the theatre for both the matinee and evening performances, there was a special photo booth, supplied by Top Hat Photo Booths, where audiences could write special messages in honor of Joplin’s birthday and take photos with the messages. For the evening performance only, there were custom Joplin birthday cupcakes for audience members as they leave the theatre supplied by Sugarush in Red Bank. At 7pm there was an online celebration of Joplin’s birthday. Activities included live streaming of tracks from the world premiere cast recording (available today on Amazon from Broadway Records) and streaming of special videos from the Broadway production.
Following the performance the cast gave a special birthday salute to Joplin.
